Warts(verrucas) are caused by HPV virus. They can spread to other people through contaminated surfaces or from close skin contact. A wart is more likely to spread if the involved skin is wet or damaged. It may take months for a wart to appear after infection with the virus.
Do
- Always wash hands after touching a wart
- Change socks daily if you have a planter wart
- Cover warts with a tape(micropore) while swimming
- Avoid cutting a wart while shaving
Don’t
- do not share socks, towels or shoes if you have warts
- do not bite your nails with warts
- avoid walking barefoot in public places if you have a planter wart
- avoidscratching or picking a wart
